Time for a review so thought I would jump in with one of my favourite little products, the Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Lip Tar.
These little tubes of liquid lipsticks are so overly pigmented the tiniest drop would paint Aerosmiths mouth about 10 times!! It really is crazy how far they can go which should also be a word of warning to be super careful around clothing and carpets...and dogs and kids!! I have heard people say that the tubes pop easily, which would be a DISASTER in your makeup bag/kit/travelling bag etc, so while this has never happened to me I am super careful to pack mine in a small plastic container where they cant get squashed or leak everywhere.
OCC are living up to their name and are obsessively producing the Lip Tar in an ever growing rainbow of colour. The massive range already includes all the primary colours as well as black and white so the potential for creating even more new colours is only limited by your imagination.
For the professional artist out there, these babies are densely pigmented, long lasting and super easy to blend. The can be used in all sorts of creative ways although I would steer clear of the eyes because it does contain peppermint oil.
For the rest of you makeup addicts these are perfect for every day use and require very little re-application. I prefer to load up a lip brush that has a lid so I don't need to carry around the whole tube. Try Hush and Interlace for something soft and neutral, Stalker and Anime for bold and gorgeous or Grandma and Beta for an oh-so-hot-right-now orange statement lip.
But as very little is absolutely perfect in this world (Haigh's Chocolate Frogs being the exception!!) I do have a couple of little sticking points with the Lip Tars. If you apply too much product the colour will bleed and crack. I also found them quite drying on my lips but then I get that with pretty much any lip product. There is a Clear in the Lip Tar and it is recommended to apply this first to prevent all of the above. Also exfoliate the lips and let a little lip conditioner absorb before applying the colour in thin layers until you have built it up to the desired intensity.
And finally, all of OCC products are Vegan and Bunny Certified by PETA. Just more to love!!
I was hoping to bring you lots more red carpet inspiration from this weeks SAG Awards and the AACTA Awards, but sadly there really wasn't much to be inspired by! My favourites at the SAG's were from Aussie girls Rose & Naomi who had tressed to impress vintage style, while closer to home, Gemma Arterton showed us that braids and hot pink lips can look sooo pretty. And that, really, was all there was!!
So, instead, I have rummaged through the world wide web to find these gems from Red Carpets past. Enjoy!
Bring on the 2013 Oscars!!
