Our favourite products, advice and news on all things TMC.
Way back in the 90's, for those of you far too young to remember, Poppy was the undisputed lipstick queen of Australia. Her lipstick only range of on-trend matte hues enjoyed cult status and a loyal following for years. Sadly though it all came to an abrupt and sad end thanks to some shonky investors. Clearly not matte lovers!!
Fast forward 20 something years and a new young Aussie lass, Melbournite Joanna French, has thrown her tiara in the ring to be crowned the next queen with Shanghai Suzy. The lipstick only makeup range consists of densely pigmented, on trend colours that smell like bubblegum. Hello Hubba Bubba flashbacks!! Twice yearly a new range of limited edition colours are released and after only having just released it's fourth range since its launch in 2013 the brand has quickly caused a stir in the industry. I first stumbled onto the range when my gal pal at Ruby&Hope became a stockist and after trying on every colour I immediately applied to be a stockist. Cruelty free, vegan, smells like bubblegum and is insanely cheap...What's not to love??
Each super crazy densely pigmented lippy comes in either a matte or nourish formula and now just hot off the press, a shimmer (OMG Miss Veronica!!) and the colour payoff lasts for ages! Now normally my lips would recoil into shrivelled prunes 100 feet from a matte lippy but Shanghai Suzy somehow managed to find a balance between flat matte perfection and a non moisture sucking formulation! To that I say THANK YOU!!
TMC stocks their 'cheap & chic', and let me say 'cheery', range for clients to purchase for touchups (the real reason of course is so I have an excuse to own them all myself!!) but if you are after a particular shade make sure you check in with us before the day to confirm it is in stock. These little babies are limited edition and sell out quickly.
Which is your favourite Suzy?
